The Switch into Japan with Yaskawa

Finland’s The Switch is entering the Japanese market with its advanced drive-train technology through its cooperation agreement with Japan’s Yaskawa Electric.

The two companies announced a strategic partnership last year, and have now cemented the deal by branding The Switch permanent magnet generator (PMG), full-power converters (FPC) packages under the Yaskawa label.

The Switch PMGs cover all wind power applications from 1MW to 8MW and above, including direct-drive, medium-speed and high-speed PMGs.

“Both companies will gain a stronger competitive advantage” says Jussi Vanhanen, marketing director at The Switch.

“Yaskawa now has instant access to our full range of advanced, field-proven drive-trains based on PMG and FPC technology and The Switch has the support of a strong, local partner in the Japanese market" he added.
