BluEarth gets Alberta project ok

Developer BluEarth Renewables says the Alberta Utilities Commission has approved its proposed 115MW Bull Creek Wind Project located 441km northeast of Calgary.

With the AUC approval in place, BluEarth plans to apply for municipal development permits and continues to work on securing additional power purchase agreements.

“Once built, this project will contribute to the diversification of wind generation in Alberta, which has historically been concentrated in the southern part of the province,” says BluEarth chief executive Kent Brown.

The project will be located on private land currently used for agriculture, ranching and oil and gas production.

Brown estimates there are more than 760 wind turbines operating in Alberta. The province has 1.12GW of installed capacity, according Log in to read complete article.
