British wind power enjoyed a boom December during which it set new delivery records to the nation’s grid, said RenewableUK.

The UK’s 10.4GW of wind capacity generated 2.84TWh last month when it met 10% of the country’s total domestic and commercial demand, according to the industry group.

December milestones included a 783.9GWh in the week starting 16 December – a seven-day record equating to 13% of the UK’s power needs.

Wind also delivered a daily record when it met 17% of total demand with 132GWh on December 21.
