Neart na Gaoithe soil work starts

Mainstream Renewable Power (MRP) is kicking off soil investigations on its 450MW Neart na Gaoithe wind farm off Scotland.

The works, in the outer Firth of Forth 15km to the east of Fife Ness, are expected to take just under a month.

Neart na Gaoithe, one of 16 renewables projects that have been made eligible to apply for the UK goverrment's contracts for difference (CfD) support scheme prior to its launch in late 2014, will be made up of 72-90 turbines standing in up 54 metres of water.

MRP recently announced plans to deploy the North Sea’s first commercial floating Lidar wind-measurement device as part of its development of the project.
