VIPs cut ribbon at 400MW Anholt

Anholt will be fully operational by the end of the year
Denmark’s Dong Energy has cut the ribbon at the 400MW Anholt wind farm, the country’s largest offshore wind project.

The turbines were officially inaugurated by Denmark’s Queen Margrethe following a speech by the country’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

Anholt will generate power equivalent to the annual consumption of around 400,000 Danish households

Dong Energy developed, constructed and operates the wind farm, with a 50% ownership stake. Investors PensionDanmark with 30%, and PKA with 20%, own the remainder.

Anholt was fully powered up in mid-June, following the grid-connection of the last of its 111 Siemens 3.6MW turbines.

The project was constructed to a demanding timetable during 2012 and 2013.
