The UK’s Planning Inspectorate has agreed to examine SMart Wind’s 1.2GW Hornsea phase one offshore wind farm project, off northeast England.

The proposed development, which will be located in the North Sea some 103km from the coast of the East Riding in Yorkshire, will comprise up to 332 wind turbines. 

An onshore connection is proposed at the National Grid substation at North Killingholme.

Hornsea Project One comprises the 600MW Njord and 600MW Heron project.

SMart Wind is a joint venture between Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Project Ventures.
