The 1,000th turbine to be installed by A2Sea goes in off North Wales

Danish offshore contractor A2Sea has installed its 1,000th turbine, at the Gwynt y Môr wind farm in the Irish Sea.

The installation of the Siemens 3.6MW turbine, carried out by the Sea Jack jack-up barge, is one of 160 machines being put in at the 576MW project, being developed by RWE Innogy off the coast of North Wales.

A2Sea chief executive Jens Frederik Hansen said: “From the very first turbine with Sea Energy in June 2002 at Horns Rev I, many things have happened in the industry," naming purpose-built vessels, deeper waters and bigger components as examples.
