order

Aeolus
to
Hamburg-based
JJ
Sietas,
Germany’s
oldest
shipyard,
with
an
option
on
a
second
identical
vessel.
The
order
was
seen
as
a
significant
boost
for
Europe’s
beleaguered
shipbuilding
industry,
with
most
modern
offshore
wind
vessels
being
built
at
Asian
yards.
Originally,
Sietas
claimed
it
would
deliver
the
jack-up
vessel
in
September
2012.
However,
in
2011
the
shipyard’s
heavy
debts
forced
into
administration,
and
progress
on
Aeolus
took
a
