Nordex blasts German policy uncertainty

Nordex has taken a swipe at “unnecessary uncertainty” caused in the German wind sector by discussion of possible renewable support cuts.

The German wind turbine manufacturer claimed a robust start to the year for its domestic business, despite the high-profile debate over renewable energy policy ahead of federal elections later in 2013.

German ministers have proposed tough changes to the nation’s support regime, including freezes or cuts to feed-in tariffs.

Nordex chief customer officer Lars Bondo Krogsgaard said Nordex has booked 84MW of orders for its N117/2400 onshore turbine in the early part of the year.

Krogsgaard says the sales were particularly gratifying because “discussion of possible changes to the tariffs has caused unnecessary uncertainty in the German market.
