Turbines at Bard Offshore 1

A support vessel has collided with a turbine foundation at the construction site of the Bard Offshore 1 wind project in the German North Sea, harbour police in Emden said today.

The ship incurred only minor damage after the accident on Saturday night and was able to get safely to harbour on the island of Borkum.

None of the six crew members on board at the time was injured.

The police could not offer any further estimates of damage and Bard officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

German federal police have asked the Emden harbour police to look into the accident. They will also investigate whether international shipping traffic rules were violated.
