LEEDCo names offshore wind project team

Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo) has assembled a 12-member team of local experts and international partners to develop its ”Icebreaker” project, the first US freshwater offshore wind farm.

Team members are Bayer MaterialScience, COWI, DNV KEMA, Eranti Engineering, Freshwater Wind, Great Lakes Energy Institute at Case Western Reserve University, McMahon DeGulis, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Offshore Design Engineering, Project Management Consultants, Siemens and URS.

The Energy Department (DOE) in December awarded the project $4m in one-year funding for initial development that became available 15 February.  Six other projects also received a similar amount of money. LEEDCo’s private partners have committed an additional $1m in cost share for this portion of the project.
