'Regulatory uncertainty' led to Vestas trim

Regulatory uncertainty in key European markets prompted Vestas to cut its shipment guidance for 2013, chief executive Ditlev Engel told Recharge.

Presenting its full-year financial report today, the Danish wind giant said it expects to deliver 4GW-5GW of turbines this year, after previously predicting a straight 5GW.

Engel said this has a lot to do with regulatory uncertainty in core markets such as Germany, the UK and Romania.

“We know that as soon as someone from the political world talks about regulations, then investors withdraw.

“If this continues then we cannot rule out that we won’t reach out target and that’s why we now say 4-5GW,” he said.
