groups

already
fighting
long-running
battles
with
DECC
and
Ofgem
over
transmission
charges
in
their
quest
to
convert
their
phenomenal
natural
resources
into
a
green
energy
bonanza.
Learning
that
SHETL
was
pushing
back
the
date
to
lay
the
all-important
transmission
cables
was
the
last
thing
they
needed.
The
two
island
groups
have
different
priorities
here.
The
Shetlands,
which
have
always
been
self-sufficient
in
locally
generated
power,
are
primarily
interested
in
a
600MW
HVDC
interconnector
to
facilitate
the
371MW
Viking
wind
farm
proposed
for
the
main
island.
