Nordex says 2012 ended strongly

German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex says it saw a record order intake of €628m ($840m) in the fourth quarter of 2012, but expects to take a one-off hit of up to €75m as a result of restructuring in the US and China.

The Q4 orders compared to €400m in the final three months of 2011, while new business increased by 14.6% to €1.27bn for last year as a whole.

“The record order intake was driven by strong demand in the EMEA region, which contributed 94 percent of the new business.” Nordex says. “Only around 1% of new business came from China and some 5% from America.”

The company recently entered the South American market after receiving a major order from Uruguay. A further reason for the sales success was strong demand for its multi-MW platform, Nordex said.
