Stockyard Hill will join Cullerin Range in Origin's fleet

Origin Energy, Australia’s biggest electricity retailer, is to hold onto its Stockyard Hill Wind Farm in Victoria state, after considering a sale of the project to companies including China’s Three Gorges.

The Stockyard Hill project has approval for 157 wind turbines, meaning it could be a 400MW-500MW project when completed.

Origin began to review options for developing the wind farm last year, including seeking proposals from parties interested in supplying turbines, constructing the wind farm on Origin’s behalf or providing equity for Stockyard Hill while Origin supported it through a power purchase agreement.

During its review process it is reported to have received three bids, including one from China Three Gorges New Energy and Chinese turbine supplier Goldwind.
