Vattenfall to seek 66MW for Klim

Swedish utility Vattenfall has received the go-ahead to boost its Klim Fjordholme onshore project to 66MW, and will this spring start talks with potential turbine suppliers for the repowering.

Klim, currently 21MW, was built in 1997 using 35 600kW turbines at its site in the North of Jutland.

Vattenfall now plans to install 22 3MW machines during 2014/15, making it Denmark’s biggest onshore wind facility.

Vattenfall says that although domestic Danish producer Vestas and Siemens of Germany are currently the only suppliers with technical certification for that turbine category in Denmark, the timescale involved should allow another supplier to obtain the necessary approvals.
