Gamesa gets 54MW Finland order

Gamesa's 4.5MW wind turbine

Gamesa has received an order for 12 of its giant G128-4.5MW turbines from Finnish company TuuliWatti.

Eleven of the turbines will be installed in 2013 and one in 2014.

The contract is part of a 117MW framework agreement signed in October with TuuliWatti – a joint venture between Finnish energy company St1 and national retail cooperative S-Group – to supply five wind farms in the country. 

The deal marks a breakthrough for Gamesa for its 4.5MW turbine platform, which features a number of innovations such as a two-part blade, a modular set-up to facilitate the installation process and maintenance, and a nacelle-mounted crane.
