Goldwind turbines spin in Ecuador

A 16.5MW Goldwind-equipped wind farm in Ecuador has started operations.

The $42m Villonaco project comprises eleven Goldwind 1.5MW turbines along with a transmission line that links the development’s substation to its counterpart in Loja, which is on Ecuador’s national power grid.

Ecuador’s power company CELEC runs the wind farm, which was part-funded by the China Development Bank and will produce around 59 GWh of power a year, mainly for Ecuador’s southern region.

The Ecuadorian project is one of a number of contract wins in Latin America by China’s Goldwind, which has also scored in Panama and Chile.
