Longyuan boosts Chinese offshore wind project to 182MW

Longyuan has connected another 50MW at its Rudong inter-tidal project, extending the firm’s lead in China’s fledgling offshore wind market.

The wind farm, located off the coast of Jiangsu province, started out as a pilot project, with an initial 32MW of capacity from several different turbine suppliers.

Late last year Longyuan connected another 100MW to the grid, using 17 of Sinovel’s 3MW turbines and 21 of Siemens’ 2.38MW machines.

It put the final 20 Goldwind 2.5MW turbines into operation last week, resulting in a 182MW project – China’s largest offshore wind farm.
