Dong, Siemens and Alstom among UK offshore wind group

A roll-call of industry heavy-hitters was today unveiled to sit on the UK’s new Offshore Wind Programme Board (OWPB).

The OWPB was set up to help enact the recommendations of the country’s Offshore Wind Cost Reduction Task Force, which aims to cut costs in the industry by 30% by 2020.

Adam Bruce, head of corporate affairs at Irish developer Mainstream Renewable Power, had already been named as chairman.

He will be joined by developer and turbine-supplier representatives including: Jonathan Cole, managing director of ScottishPower Renewables; Benj Sykes, UK country manager for Dong Energy; Clark MacFarlane, head of UK offshore wind-power at Siemens; and president of Alstom UK Steve Burgin.
