Nordex scores again in South Africa with 80MW wind farm deal

Nordex has pinned down a firm deal for the 80MW Red Cap Kouga wind farm in Eastern Cape, becoming the first turbine maker to secure two orders in the burgeoning South African market.

From April 2013 the German wind group will begin construction of foundations, road access, cabling, a transformer station and other elements, with installation of 32 of its N90/2500 turbines to follow.

The customer is Red Cap Kouga, a project company backed by a variety of investors, including Cape Town-based private-equity firm Inspired Evolution.

Earlier this month Nordex clinched an order for 40 of its N100/2500 turbines for the 100MW Dorper wind farm, backed by Rainmaker Energy and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation. Installation at Dorper, also in the Eastern Cape, will Log in to read complete article.
