Boost for US offshore project as regulators OK Cape Wind PPA

Trailblazing US offshore project Cape Wind has had its power purchase agreement (PPA) with utility NSTAR approved by regulators in Massachusetts.

The developer claims the approval is another “major milestone” on its long road to building a 130-turbine wind farm off the coast of the state.

NSTAR will buy 27.5% of the wind farm’s output under the terms of the 15-year PPA, which was ratified by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU).

Cape Wind has another deal in place to sell half its power to National Grid.
