GE confirms $394m, 386MW deal to supply Brazil's Renova

GE has confirmed that Brazilian developer Renova Energia has signed a $394m contract for 386MW of wind turbines – a deal first reported by Recharge in October.

Renova will buy 230 GE 1.68-82.5 machines for its Alto Sertão II wind complex, comprising 15 plants in the cities of Caetité, Guanambim and Igaporã, in the southeast of Bahia state.

The turbine contract comes with a 10-year operations deal.

Renova has 1GW of installed wind in place and first linked with GE in a 184-turbine deal in 2009.

The result of that agreement – the Alto Sertão I development – became operational in July.
