Areva and STX in turbine and foundation offshore alliance

French wind equipment maker Areva and compatriot shipbuilder STX France have forged a cooperation deal that will see them jointly develop a turnkey turbine-and-foundation offshore offering.

The tie-up would deliver turbine, tower and jacket in one for “major European projects”, with STX not only designing an “optimised” new-look foundation structure but also responsible for their manufacture.
