REpower to build Ontario blade factory, signs 105MW deal

Germany’s REpower has signed a deal to supply 51 turbines to six wind farms being built in Canada by German developer Wpd.

REpower will also open a rotor blade factory in southern Ontario to service the new projects, says REpower parent firm Suzlon in an announcement.

REpower’s MM92 turbines (2.05MW) will be installed at projects in Whittington, Springwood, White Pines, Napier, Sumac Ridge and Fairview. All are in Ontario province and will be built and commissioned in 2014.

REpower also signed a 15-year service and maintenance agreement for the new projects.

REpower has been operating in Canada since 2007, supplying 84MW of grid-connected projects so far. It is currently installing a further 350MW.
