Iberdrola
plans
to
begin
offshore
construction
on
Wikinger
in
2015,
and
begin
exporting
power
from
the
project
in
2016.
Under
revised
plans
for
the
project
which
Iberdrola
submitted
in
August
2011,
Wikinger
will
use
5MW
turbines.
Recharge
revealed
in
June
that
Spanish
turbine
manufacturer
Gamesa
was
one
of
the
companies
on
a
shortlist
of
potential
suppliers,
and
officials
had
hoped
Wikinger
could
be
the
first
big
sale
for
its
planned
G11X
5MW
turbine.
Losing
out
on
the
contract
will
be
a
serious
blow
to
its
offshore
ambitions.
