US sets final tariff rates on wind towers from China and Vietnam

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has issued its final verdict on anti-dumping and counter-subsidy duties against wind turbine towers imported from China and Vietnam.

The announcement follows a year-long investigation into tower imports into the US, following a complaint by a group of domestic manufacturers – and in some cases raises the tariffs set in a preliminary ruling earlier in 2012.

The DOC’s International Trade Administration (ITA) recommended anti-dumping duties of 47.59% and 44.9% on Chengxi Shipyard and Titan Wind Energy (Suzhou) respectively.

Three others – CS Wind, Guodian United Power Technology Baoding and Sinovel – were hit with a 46.38% duty, while all other Chinese imports will face a 70.63% tariff.
