The
German
group
says
the
SWT-4.0
model
builds
on
key
elements
of
the
technology
that
underpins
its
ubiquitous
SWT-3.6
machine,
adding
15%
to
annual
energy
production.
The
prototype,
which
is
in
place
in
Østerild,
Denmark,
is
equipped
with
the
120-metre
rotor
seen
on
the
SWT-3.6.
But
this
will
soon
be
upgraded
to
a
130-metre
rotor
using
63-metre
blades,
says
Siemens.
The
SWT-4.0-130
will
be
launched
commercially
in
spring
next
year,
with
serial
production
due
to
start
in
2015.
