Iberdrola sells German onshore wind interests to utility MVV

Iberdrola is selling its seven German onshore wind farms totalling 62.9MW to local utility MVV Energie.

The German company will acquire 100% ownership of the Spanish power giant’s subsidiaries Iberdrola Renovables Deutschland, which operates 37.4MW at four plants, and Windpark Jülicher Land, which owns the rest.

The deal means Mannheim-based MVV Energie will almost double the generation capacity in its wind power business to 136MW.

Iberdrola says MVV will take on debts associated with the wind farms in a deal worth €52.7m ($68m), with a possible extra €10.1m payable under certain conditions.
