Statkraft to spend $903m on 369MW more wind in Sweden

Norwegian utility Statkraft has unveiled plans to build two new wind farms in Sweden with a total capacity of 369MW.

The company says it will invest NKr5.2bn ($903m) in the Björkhöjden and Ögonfägnaden onshore wind farms, which will be built as part of its Swedish joint venture with forestry group SCA.

The two projects will be sited in Sweden’s Jämtland and Västernorrland counties, northeast of Östersund.

Björkhöjden will have a capacity of 270MW, and will begin operations in two stages in 2014 and 2015.

The 99MW Ögonfägnaden plant could be completed as early as 2014, says Statkraft. Construction work at both plants will begin immediately.
