KfW IPEX backs 53MW Taiwan wind farm using Enercon turbines

An existing wind farm in Taiwan

Germany’s KfW IPEX-Bank is putting up €66.8m ($86.5m) in export finance to back the development of a 53MW wind farm in Taiwan.

The Tongyuan Wind Farm on the west coast of Taiwan, 120km from the capital Taipei, will use 23 turbines supplied by German manufacturer Enercon.

The plant is being co-developed by Bremen-based companies infraVest and wpd, which have already worked together on five wind projects in Taiwan with the help of KfW IPEX-Bank.

Enercon also has a long-term service and maintenance deal at Tongyuan, which is due to enter service in 2015.
