Navitus Bay UK offshore project gets met mast go-ahead

The Navitus Bay Round 3 offshore wind project has received a licence to erect a meteorological mast from the UK’s Marine Management Organisation (MMO).

The mast will be a temporary lattice structure, approximately 100 metres high and located about eight miles from the Swanage and Bournemouth coastline in southern England, the developer says.

Construction of the mast is set to begin in late 2012 and will take about one month to complete.

Chris Sherrington, project director for Navitus Bay Development, says: “The approval of the meteorological mast application is an important milestone for the project and will help us gather more important data to support the planning application.”

Navitus Bay is owned by the Netherlands’ Eneco and France’s Log in to read complete article.
