China's JHI to build vessel for European offshore wind work

The new contract comes as further evidence of the growing role of Chinese shipbuilders in the offshore wind services industry

China’s Jiangsu Jiaolong Heavy Industry Group (JHI) has won a contract to build a wind turbine installation vessel to service European offshore projects.

The company’s subsidiary, Nantong Jiaolong Heavy Industry Development, is expected to deliver the vessel in the third quarter of 2013 to a Singapore-based offshore rig and vessel owner. The firm declined to reveal the name of its client.

The new contract comes as further evidence of the growing role of Chinese shipbuilders in the offshore wind services industry.
