E.ON may build 600MW of wind in Norway with state land manager

Statskog manages 65,000 square kilometres of Norwegian forests

E.ON has signed a co-operation deal with state-run Norwegian land management group Statskog that could see the two build 600MW of wind power in the country by 2017.

The German utility’s Swedish unit says under the agreement the partners will explore siting up to 200 wind turbines in various areas of central and southern Norway.

Statskog manages 65,000 square kilometres of Norwegian forests and mountains – about 20% of the country's mainland – on behalf of the government.

Statskog may give E.ON access to sites with favourable wind conditions for development.
