Tycoon Trump steps up pressure over golf course wind farm plan

US tycoon Donald Trump has stepped up pressure on the Scottish government to reject an application for a planned offshore wind farm near his new £750m ($1.19bn) golf course at Menie in Aberdeenshire.

A war of words has broken out between Trump, local politicians and the developers of the proposed 11-turbine test wind farm in Aberdeen Bay — the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC).

Trump is calling for a public inquiry into the application, which he claims would spoil the sea views for his customers. Work on the golf development has been halted until a decision on whether the wind farm can go ahead.
