IN DEPTH: Uncertainties stalking the Brazilian wind industry

Brazilian wind executives are scrambling to make sense of the myriad factors generating uncertainty as they approach next month’s federal energy tenders.

Many are already operating under the assumption that the A-3, generally the more desirable of the two tenders, will be cancelled because of insufficient demand.

That leaves the A-5, for which projects will have to come on line in 2017 — when strict new regulations for financing locally made turbines will be in full play.
