Deepwater Wind names new CEO and chairman

US offshore developer Deepwater Wind has replaced William Moore as chief executive and named Paul Gaynor – head of Boston-based developer First Wind – as chairman of its board.

Jeffrey Grybowski, chief administrative officer, will succeed Moore, who had led Deepwater since 2009 and now joins the company’s board.

Grybowski, a lawyer, has been responsible for the so-far successful development of Deepwater’s pilot Block Island offshore project in Rhode Island waters. He is a Rhode Island native, with deep political connections in the state.

Deepwater is based there and hopes to use the site as a staging point for utility-scale offshore projects in the New Jersey-New York-New England region.
