GE turbines make India debut at wind farm in Karnataka

US industrial giant GE says the commissioning of a wind farm in southern India is early fruit of its “significant investment” in the country.

The 25.5MW project at Yelisurur in the state of Karnataka, developed by Bhoruka Power Corporation, is the first in India to use GE’s 1.5-77 model turbines, assembled at its factory in Pune.

The US company also operates and maintains the Yelisurur plant, which it says is operating ahead of performance targets.
