Forewind finalises first four Dogger Bank boundaries

Forewind, the consortium behind Dogger Bank, the world’s largest offshore wind development, has settled on the boundaries of the first four wind farms to be carved out of the zone, representing a “significant step” the project’s evolution.

Forewind – comprising Statoil, Statkraft, SSE and RWE – also confirms its intention to bring 9.6GW of capacity on line within Dogger Bank over time, compared to the 9GW attributed to the zone when it was first awarded by the Crown Estate in 2010.

Forewind had previously revealed the first two “tranches” it intends to develop, with tranche A – closest to shore – set to host two future wind farms, and tranche B to host another four.
