EDPR, Vestas extend delivery period for 1.5GW framework

Portuguese-owned wind power giant EDPR and Danish turbine manufacturer have agreed to extend the delivery period of the wind turbines covered by the 1.5GW master supply agreement to also cover deliveries until 2015.

The 1.5GW contract, signed in April 2010, was to cover deliveries in 2011 and 2012, and contained an option for a further 600MW of deliveries. Since then EDPR has slowed down the development of its wind farm capacity, as it hit headwinds in markets such as the US and Portugal.

Vestas says that extending the period will not affect its forecast of around 6.3 GW of shipments in 2012.
