Gamesa wind turbine sales fall 17% as China and Europe slow

Spanish turbine manufacturer Gamesa sold 1.627GW in the first nine months of 2012, down 17% on the equivalent period a year before.

Gamesa says buoyant volumes in Latin America and the US – which accounted for 30% and 24% of sales respectively – partially offset declines in sales in China and Europe.

The Spanish group saw orders of 370MW during the third quarter, and total orders of 1.605GW during the first nine months.

Gamesa had firm orders of 1.578GW as of the end of September. Latin America and India accounted for 34% and 16% of new orders, respectively.
