Globeleq Mesoamerica Energy has been awarded contracts for four wind power projects totaling 80MW in Costa Rica’s highly anticipated tender, Recharge has learned.

Another group, Tilawind Corporation, won a contract for 19.55MW at a rate of $86/MWh. Globeleq’s rate for all four projects is $83/MWh.

Six developers with 220MW worth of wind projects had entered the 100MW tender, despite a lack of clarity over the rules.

Globeleq Mesoamerica Energy operates wind farms in Costa Rica and Honduras, and has a project under construction in Nicaragua.
