Ex-Kenersys boss Soares joins Vestas as Brazil manager

Danish wind turbine maker Vestas has appointed a new general manager for its Brazilian operation.

Paulo Fernando Soares joins Vestas this week from fellow turbine manufacturer Kenersys, where he was appointed chief executive in 2010.

When Soares took the helm of Muenster, Germany-based Kenersys, the company had five pilot turbines operating. It currently has more than 200MW in operation, says Vestas.

Before joining Kenersys, Soares headed Suzlon’s China operation. He has also worked for Siemens' hydropower business.

“The appointment of Paulo Fernando Soares is a welcome addition to the Vestas team in Brazil,” says Juan Araluce, president of Vestas Mediterranean and the Danish group’s chief sales officer.
