Scottish officials approve 85MW Beinneun wind project

The Scottish government has given the nod to the 85MW Beinneun onshore wind project, owned by developer RidgeWind, setting in motion another major project in the Highlands.

Beinneun is by far the largest wind farm taken through the consents process by Oxfordshire-based RidgeWind, which is majority owned by the private-equity firm HgCapital.

RidgeWind has only one operational wind farm on its books – the 16MW Bagmoor, in North Lincolnshire, England.

Two others – the nearby 24.6MW Hall Farm project and the 20.5MW Wandylaw in northeast England – are under construction.

All three of those projects use REpower wind turbines.
