Nordex adds 130 as it brings N117 blade production in-house

Nordex is hiring 130 workers as it commences in-house production of rotor blades for its new N117 turbine, demand for which it says is surging as European developers move to tap low-wind regions.

This summer Nordex began serial production of its N117 model, rated at 2.4MW, which is tailored for the “light wind” resources that developers in wind farm-saturated countries like Germany increasingly find themselves having to target.

With its carbon-fibre rotor blades and other special features, the N117 is designed to perform well even in areas with strict construction restrictions, such as low hub-height and decibel limits.

Nordex had previously indicated that interest in the N117 has been stronger than anticipated.
