Many
of
Canada’s
ten
provinces
will
take
decisions
over
the
next
18-24
months
that
will
help
decide
the
shape
of
the
country’s
electricity
mix.
While
jurisdiction
over
energy
is
divided
between
the
federal
and
provincial
governments,
the
latter
have
authority
over
exploration,
development,
conservation
and
management
of
natural
resources,
as
well
as
generation
of
electricity.
The
larger
provinces
have
gone
their
separate
ways
with
development
and
distribution,
which
has
not
always
been
the
most
efficient
use
of
energy
resources
for
Canada
as
a
nation.
