Marubeni buys 50% stake in EDF's US Lakefield wind project

Lakefield uses GE wind turbines

Japanese conglomerate Marubeni has agreed to buy a 50% share in the 205MW Lakefield wind project in Minnesota, US.

Marubeni will co-own the wind farm with developer EDF Renewable Energy, the US arm of the French utility group.

EDF Renewable Energy – until recently known as enXco – will continue to look after operations and maintenance at Lakefield via its services arm.

“Marubeni will participate in asset management roles, working with EDF Renewable Energy in the administration of the project,” says a statement from the partners.

The wind farm began operations last year with 137 1.5MW GE wind turbines.
