Iberdrola denies sale of Romania wind pipeline to Sinovel

Spanish utility Iberdrola has denied it is negotiating to sell its giant Romania wind development pipeline – known as Project Dobrogea – to Chinese turbine manufacturer Sinovel.

Sinovel has been linked to Iberdrola’s Romanian interests previously, when it was involved in negotiations with a former partner of Eolica Dobrogea – the local developer with which Iberdrola has an exclusive agreement for the different projects in the pipeline.

The proposed sale of the 1.2GW Romanian pipeline is part of a planned divestment of non-strategic assets by Iberdrola, which a report in Spanish newspaper el Economista says it will announce tomorrow.
