Austal gets new wind farm vessel order for UK's Turbine Transfers

Austal, an Australian shipbuilder, has won a new order for three wind farm support vessels from UK-based Turbine Transfers.

The company is expected to deliver the 27-metre catamarans by the end of next year.

The contract for the vessels, designed to support turbine installation and maintenance in European waters, is the third signed with Turbine Transfers.

Austal also delivered three 21-metre catamarans to Europe earlier this year and is currently building a 27-metre trimaran for the UK company.

A specialist in fast ferries and luxury yachts, Austal began targeting the growing market for wind farm boats in mid-2010 and signed its first contract in July last year.
