Iberdrola starts building 150MW wind complex in Brazil

Work has started at the Calango complex

Spanish giant Iberdrola and partner Neoenergia have started building the 150MW Calango wind complex in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.

Iberdrola and Neoenergia, in which the Spanish group has a 39% stake, now have 10 wind farms in the construction phase in Brazil, with a total of 288MW of capacity.

Calango consists of five wind farms of 30MW each, and is expected to become operational in late 2013.

The other five wind farms – Mel 2 (20 MW) and Arizona 1 (28 MW) and the three-wind-farm Caetité complex (90 MW) – are already at an “advanced stage” of development, Iberdrola says.
